He is a great Shadowrun DM but that system is very different than DnD. He has experience playing 3E but this is his first time DMing it.Things are different in Shadowrun you don't tend to encounter creatures and NPCs so much more powerful than you. Sure you might meet a mage who has really tricked out his stats and has some powerful foci so that he can cast his spells better than we can but that mage is still subject to drain and can flub his roll for drain badly. Mages in DnD are more powerful as they level and a ninth level mage is going to be much more powerful than a fisrt level sorcerer. There are spells that you are just not supposed to encounter at lower levels because you do not have the HP or the saves to have a chance of living through them.I am really thinking of a good way to apporach him over all of this. I don't want to turn the game into one where we are stopping the action every few minutes to argue rules. But as players we make decisions based on the rules. The entire reason I disengaged and moved was that there should have been no way for this creature to get to me and I would have had time to take a potion to heal and then get back into the battle. I based my decision on my knowledge of the rules. Also even if he had a way to get to me I didn't think he would be able to use both attacks on me.The other thing that has gotten me upset is that we defeated a 13 level mage and the CR for that is not even written for a party our level because it is to high. We took his magic items and his belt pouch they were in a backpack. Some how when he teleported out he managed to take his things as well. So here we took on all these things and we did not get any treasure. And unlike Shadowrun treasure is important.</blockquote>
