"maybe another time soon" he said, but his band played saturday night. he is in a local bluegrass band that i really enjoy. at 2:30 that afternoon, my neighbor, the rapper, calls and says "mark, i am soo nervous" turns out he just got a call form his biological father. 25 years old and his father and he were in the same town at the same time for the firts time. i am promised the full story some time today <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile    :)"  data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" /> so, just the wife unit (johanna) her coworker jack and his wife dori. i decided, after much indecision about homebrews and free modules to go with The Whispering Woodwind by cmg. i know the module well, like what it has to offer and i have the added bonus of having talked for a long time with the author about it (mark). i tried to keep it rules light and fun, explaining certain aspects broadly then opening the floor for questions. i ended up explaining that we should try to have "a beat em up, a sneak em up, a caster and a preacher." dori, getting a grad degree, decides she wants to be a caster, i explain them and she decides elven sorcerer. jack decides on a half-orc barbarian and my wife wanted to be a halfling rogue. i tossed together a cleric npc for them and walked them through roling stats,the  used the character generator t make the rest easier. IT WAS A BALL! several times we had to stop because everyone was laughing so hard. they were more than slightly silly, but always trying. i think jack is now a die-hard gamer, dori liked it but wants to try again to see of she can grasp the rules better, and my wife actually had fun and does not object to another session. by the end they were pointing out "when we do this next time i wanna play the same person!" great quotes form the newbies:  "it's mystery wetness!" "you boys are men!" upon seeing a the old crone "well, it's obviously not OUR flute player" dori, the alchemically trained sorcerer- "i use my alchemy and turn them all into lead" and  "i distract them with my toad!" also form dori- "i've got a dagger, i will go dag them" when the half orc barbarian started question the freshly rescued sherrif, who had been bound and beaten severaly without even untying her- "give her her hug and tell her everythign is o.k.!"when 4 female rogues stepped up to challenge the party "well, i am probably gonna have to go kick some women ass" i feel it was a success, as they were all talking about "next time" by halfway in. if it turns into a regular game i will share that news too <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile    :)"  data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" /> thanks for the encouragement and suggestions, i think they really helped.</blockquote>
