When my paladin finally got the door open to return to the fight, the lake drained past him (it was designed to do this. There was a safe place to stand and let the water shoot past me into a pit). Then the session ended.</p><p> </p><p>The dragon's demand is that he will release the fighter and let us live if the shiny one (that's me) agrees to pay him 10,000gp. This is not the kind of deal a paladin likes to make, especially since they are forbidden to lie.</p><p></p><p>The only thing I'm holding out hope for is that the dragon's treasure is on the bottom of the now-drained lake. I might could be convinced to buy back the fighter using the dragon's own gold... Though I doubt the dragon would be very pleased when he flew down and we announced this plan to him.</p><p> </p><p>T'rell isn't about to just give you up for dead, though. He'll embark on a daring rescue, against insurmountable odds, alone if need be, to recover you! Of course, last time he went 1-on-1 against a dragon <em>he</em> was the one who needed rescuing... but he's tougher now!</p><p> </p><p>The DM, by the way, ended the session with the announcement, "Well, now that I know the CR for dragons is seriously out of whack..."
