I just got my New Testament!

Hahaha

I could'nt resist.

Seriously tho, I just got my copy of Testament: Roleplaying in the Biblical Era. And what can I say but "WOW"! Green Ronin has done a bang up job. They have given the GM a very well thought out suppliment, that is both very usable, and playable.
I think the thing I like the best is that it leaves it up to the GM as to how to use the source material. This to me is a big plus as I don't want anyone's interpretation of the biblical record in my game. Rather I want the stats and other material to use as my interest, intelligence, and faith direct me.

So far the only knock on the book is that there is no Character Sheet!!

So who is getting Testament, and WHO would like to play in an online game of Testament! EM, PM, or post here if your interested in such a game!

Very interested...

I have not yet found a copy of Testament, but am anxously awaiting it. (Damned Northern Michigan!)
I have downloaded both previews from GR and the free adventure in the EN World Players Journal.

Let me just say that I have waited for such a setting for a long time and I plan to intergrate some things from the Engel RPG put out by Sword & Sorcery Studios. I have been doing some research, (Can't go without a ton of material from the good old King James Bible!) and man do I have some great Ideas. I would definately like to hear more about what you have in the works.

Keep me in mind
And I would be interested to to run the game with a group of Christian and / or Jewish individuals.

Not really my cup of tea, but I know Green Ronin makes great books, so I'm sure it's good. I would be interested in thumbing through it just to see how they handled certain things.

I can't wait to see this. I'm a double major in history and religious studies. This book is right up my alley, although I know for a fact I could never convince my current group to give it a try.

Too each there own!

Baraendur- Hey a RPG set in Biblical Times is not for everyone, just like Sci Fi, Modern, or Fantasy.

Starman, Thunderstorm - will either of you be interested in a Play by Post, or MSN/AOL game of Testament? I will be running one shortly, and would love to have player! ;)

PM, EM, or Post me!

Hmmm...I think I could be conned into a Testament PbP game. I'll be picking up the book in a week or two. What kind of campaign were you thinking of?

Starman

Hmm...Never played in a PbP game. Might be kinda fun. Give me some info, and I will detail out a character from your new character sheet...:D

Campaign Options/Notes

First some notes about the Campaign:
1)I am not a biblical scholar, and some of the stuff I do may not seem to fit, just don't always point it out
2)Israel and God are the good guys (in the sense that they are the Chosen of God, not just a local tribe with a god among many other gods)
3)PCs will be restricted to Israelite classes or Egyptian, based on the campaign (see below)
4)PCs will start at 1st level
5)I am not incredibly familiar with 3e DnD
6) Related to 5, I tend to create a character then use the character sheet "as the rules" and basically forget additional rules, particularly in combat, since in a PbP combat can take forever.

Here are my thoughts about the campaign:

1) In the times of the Judges (with the characters taking their place as Judges, though probably not on a national scale.)

2)In the times of Joseph as he prepped Egypt for the 7 years of famine (in this case the PCs would be Egyptian citizens, possibly drafted to help prepare the country for this time of drought)

If you want you can give me an idea of your character and I can flesh it out. Or you can wait until you get a copy of the book yourself.

Let me know.

I'd like to look through the book before I started coming up with a character. Nothing gets the creative juices flowing better than a cool new book.

Starman

Cool!

Well Star man em or pm me when you get the book if you still want to play.

Until then- The Testament game will be played during the Era of the Judges of Israel.

More info about where we are going to play, soon
