AEG also talked about the new Warlord RPG. Developed out of a home game of John Zinser’s, this game is also to be heavily supported. The game is based on the world of AEG’s card game Warlord. The retailers were very happy to see it and from the sound of it AEG support will be there to drive this game forward.

The world of Warlord was based off an AEG employee's D&D game. There was talk in the early months of AEG doing a campaign rpg book for the world, but then there was nothing for a long time.

But I am intriguged. Disiplined Orcs and short -lived, evil elves, gotta love it.

I hope they don't neglect L5R or Spycraft for the Warlords RPG. I'm sure they won't, but you never know. Personally, I think I have bought all the L5R RPG materials I will ever buy, even though I love the setting and game. And, I can see them actually running out of stuff to do for L5R, except maybe release a book occasionally with canon setting updates. Eh, maybe they do need a new line to work on.

A new game geared at 10-14 year, HumAliens, will be making its debut and is obviously geared at the lower age group based on the artwork I saw.

A new license was announced at the dinner, Initial D. Described as Japan’s number one anime show for teen boys this TokyoPop property takes AEG into a new direction and many retailers were pleased to see it. The game design is being done by Dave Williams and AEG staff and deals with Fast and the Furious type content.

I am going to look into HumAliens for my son (who will be 11 by the release date). I will see if that game is worth it.

Initial D? We'll see.

I do agree Warlord and SG-1 have a lot more staying potential. The question is which one will out do the other?

Warlord. I say this because it has the whole card game thing going for it. It could take up a similar profile like L5R. On the other hand, it is just another fantasy game, whereas L5R has the asian twist to it. Who knows? Stargate will appeal to the fan of the show, plus some Spycraft gamers looking for additional material. But I don't see a lot of supplements for Stargate. It doesn't have the built-in "faction" concept, like clans, guilds, chambers, etc. Unless they go out and develop a book for each alien race (and I don't know enough about the setting to know if that's viable or would work).

I guess I'd make a bad game designer, because I don't think in terms of "oh, let's design a world that will allow up to release a faction book every month for a year". Of course, we have White Wolf to thank for the perfecting of that lil marketing scheme.
