Say what you will, but I, for one, like the new weapon size rules. I like that there is a whole arsenal of weapons that can be scaled up or down to any size you wish. (I know you could do it before, but now it's standard practice.)
My halfling (or ogre) can use a bastard sword now! Scaling the bastard sword up and down was a bit problematic before, what with the somewhat limited damage scaling rules.
I like that a fighter can use a really friggin' big sword if he wants to, with a penalty, of course.
Just step back and look at all of this objectively. If this was the orignal system WotC had come up with for the weapons, nobody would have a problem. People only dislike it because it's different. You might then say, "Why does it have to be different?" Why change it if the other way was fine? In my opinion, this system is an improvement that allows you options not available before (see above).
That's what 3.5 is about! Expansion and clarification. Let's not get into whether or not 3.5 should have been made at all - that's a topic for another time (read: months ago).
