I need a Grim Tales fix and I need it now!

So I went to the FLGS at lunch on the chance that they might have received Grim Tales in their latest shipment. No such luck.

I *really* want to get my hands on this book. I can't wait anymore!

Give me something to tide me over - a little tidbit, something, anything!

What am I going to find inside that makes me say wow!

I'd have to say my favorite part is probably the CR/EL system revamp, which is not even my own work...

However, I did apply it in a couple of ways that the designer (ENworld's own Upper_Krust) had not: namely, using the "Creature Creation" system to add CR to Player Characters, and using "actual" character CR to balance encounters and award experience points fairly and accurately.

To sum it up in another way-- LA and ECL are gone. The simplicity of creating unique races and characters makes this the biggest "wow" moment, for me.

The EL system is going to take folks some time to get used to, in order to "unlearn" the old way in order to learn a better way. Using the new EL system it is much easier to build balanced encounters, and the XP table is greatly streamlined as well.

From a GM's perspective, that's probably my favorite part of the book.
