Hi there,

tonight will be a crucial point in the campaign i am playing in.
We have a group of 12th lvl chars who have to attend a meeting of the key powers of the country we are in. The GM told us that it is of utmost importance, how we "perform" our appeareance.

For this we acquired 3 of 4 possible "true elemental essences" as he called it - earth, water and air. With these we can do things that cannot usually be done, like e.g. use the earth essence to have a volcanoe rise and erupt (using the earth as well as the magma option) or similar things. Quite powerful stuff .)

Now we thought about having said volcanoe rise, then have a stoneslab rise in the magma and finally appear upon it from thin air (perhaps using lightning as additional effect), maybe with our bard playing music as well. But there must be better things we can do. Only i have no other ideas.

Do you?! If so, please please tell me!

None from me, I'm afraid, but I'll slide this over to plots and places after giving it a *bump* - it's mroe likely you'll get responses there from someone seeking their own ideas on something else... nothing quite like cross-pollination...

have water and air work together to make and ice stairway to your lava table :)

rainstorm only on the place where oyu need the ramp/stairway, freezing after it falls and not melting despite the lava.

Hmm, I hope this isn't too late.

Anyway, do you really have to act all god-like? Apperances in court are often manners, and I don't think the rulers would like it if you plant a volcano on the country-side. Really, just carry yourself correctly and be polite and formal and stuff.
Ok, if you can't stop yourself (I probably couldn't :) ) then do something classy like riding in on a moving wave of earth (while keeping that majestic pose), and stuff like that.

Often, subtle displays of power are better-working than all-out firestorms.

I hope this helps

Air, Water, & Earth = AWE

"'Tis the strangest thing, M'Lord! Wherever they walked, the grass is green, and flowers bloomed! They passed the gate without having to open the doors. Growing things are blossuming out of season, and birds and flying things fall silent, as though listening, then blare like trumpets!... They say you are expecting them?"

I'm thinking the volcano thing is a bad idea. I mean, do you really want to be responsible for countless deaths of innocent villagers because you sprung forth a volcano in their back yard?

Wow, thank you all!

Thank you, Henry - I knew it was the wrong forum, but unsure, where to put this.

Apart from that, thank you all for you feedback. I couldn't answer yesterday evening (though i had a look here) since we were about to start playing. I guess your input was what kept us from using the volcanoe (so we still have that nice essence for further (ab)use ;))!
We stayed all nice and formal and friendly.

What we did was: Silence. Clouds beginning to gather over a central point, growing blacker with each moment. Then, first slow, then ever faster, water starts to flow towards that central point. Mist, drops, rain, rivers...meeting in a high fountain that suddenly freezes. Thunder and lightning, which hits the Ice - and forms a small keep with 5 towers. Further lightning hits every tower at once and the 5 of us appear, apparently formed by the lightning. The Mage in the center stomps his staff to the ground...

Well and here the fun began, since (we didn't know that before) this opened the huge entryway to the place all of the attendant people wanted to go and some huge beast that guarded it came out and started whacking everything in reach.

Hmm, i guess that really showed them...hehe, we usually are pretty chaotic i guess .)

Thanks again!
Dougal
