Even before 'Podcasting' there was Mortality Radio, on occassion I'd even listen to it live (from the UK).

Anyone else have good memories of listening to Adlon, SmaugDragon & Co?

YESSSSSSSSSS!

Mortality Radio is the Granddaddy of all RPG Podcasts. More than any other podcast, these guys sounded like they were broadcasting from their gaming table.

I listened to it live from Russia a few times and I remember waking up at around 4 am to do it. I still check the MR website to see if it's being revived but alas no, there's been no word from them for about three-four years now.

Same here, and I once won a prize at one their shows, only thing I ever won.

I miss the show too, if i remember correctly one of the hurricanes in florida destroyed one of their houses, i hope things are back to normal for them,

My personal web page is still hosted by Adlon, though I forgot all my login stuff and I can't update if I want to. Actually, I have my own server, so I'm going to have my site redesigned eventually and hosted on the server.

It is odd that nobody has heard anything out of them for years though. I hope they're doing well.

I too miss it very much. Called in a couple times and hardly missed a show. I even started to settle into a routine where I'd grab some Chinese food and settle in front of my computer for a couple hours of good listening and chatting with the small assembled throng.

Ah the good ol' days. Yes Mortality was the thing to do on Sat mornings here in Oz, while doing household chores. Even my wife used to like listening in while reading, or whatever.

And I used to love calling in from Oz to win contests and force American publishers to ship product to Oz. hehehehe

Now onto updates from the guys. As mentioned the Florida hurricanes from a number of years ago caused the downfall of Mortality Radio. Adlon lost a roof, and despite promises of insurance payments, had to take a second job to pay for the damage. Adlon also lost real world time due to a new relationship and playing WoW.

Smaug's place was completely demolished in one of the hurricanes. I have heard since that he has relocated and is doing well, just not doing much online anymore.

So no, there will never be another Mortality Radio. Adlon doesn't do much with the site anymore, I am in a caretaker role.
The forums are still there, with not a lot of traffic, thus if people want a place to discuss 3e without 4e intervention, Mortality is definitely an option.
