Well. As of 15 minutes ago, I'm a Wal-Mart guy. (At least as far as Boonville MO is concerned). I needed Suet Cakes (those fat & seed mixtures you feed the birds). We got back yesterday from a week long trip & the suet feeders were empty & I didn't have any replacements. And, at least 1 of the dozens of woodpeckers we have has figured out new suet cakes come from the guy in the brick box over there. Thus he took to drumming on the trim next to our back door. Roughly translated, he was saying: "Give us suet cake now 'BLEEP' or your tires are next." So we made a special trip to our local hardware store (rather than Wal-Mart). Got there. Stores locked. Hours say Sunday 10-5. It's 2. Rattle the doors, look for some sort of sign. Nothin'. Finally 2 people start heading out from the back of the store. It's the manager, he's going on lunch break, say's they're doing inventory all day, "But, we'll be open at 8 AM Tomorrow." Of course I have to be at work by 7 AM, and having a Woodpecker bang at the door all day wasn't helping. So, off to Wal-mart. (During the time I was there, 15 other people tried the doors, looked around mystified, then gave up & headed over to Wal-Mart across the street). This isn't the first time I've gone to this store when they are supposed to be open & they are not. I'm tired of it. If I have to choose between a store that might have what I want, but WILL BE OPEN when the SAY THEY ARE OPEN; I'll choose them everytime. I've had it. I'm NEVER going to make a special trip to that store again, because there is no guarentee they will be open (despite having multiple signs clearly stating their operational hours). I'm not the only one, either. Oh, and the owner is fighting against the Super Wal-Mart coming in, as "It'll run me out of business." Funny, you managed to run me off quite nicely all by yourself, no Walton help needed. Wal-Mart had my Suet cakes (Actually they didn't have the brand I wanted, but they had something that worked). And the Woodpecker has happily left our trimwork alone & is gobbling down rended beef fat & peanut chunks as we speak.
