I wonder what the 3rd party publishers, who are dependant on WotC think?
Maybe 4E is why Goodman experimented with doing C&C and 1E modules. To see how viable the OOP market is. Since he has done several for both I presume he found them at least moderately viable. So at the very least Goodman Games may have the courage to continue supporting 3E to some extent. Remember, third edition is the first edition to have an SRD and OGL. There is nothing stopping anyone from stepping in and filling in WOTC's position as the "official home of 3E". I think if a respected company, such as Green Ronin, stepped in to fill that void, and was able to make this fact known to the whole 3E consumer group, a larger percentage of gamers than ever before would not move on to the newest edition. However, if no one steps forward to fill that void, 3E gamers will go the routes every gamer has gone with every edition change that has come before. Move on to 4E, stay with 3E, get out of the hobby entirely, or move to another RPG system entirely. I hope someone has the desire, and resources, to step forward and fill the void. I would like to see what happens.
