Each was the size of his torso and the thickness of the steel was equal to his forearm. But he noticed that the chains were not padlocked together but wrapped and haphazardly tied to the posts. For the giant to pull himself free from the other side of the post would have been impossible but, from the back where the chain was "tied", if Donnell could but lever the chains to loosen the "knot", it might give the stone giant enough slack to start wiggling himself free.</p><p></p><p>Donnell took a crowbar and thrust it through two of the links and started levering them in opposite directions. The chains moved slightly. He pulled out the crowbar and, once again rammed it through two different ones to coax them a bit further along. The knot was loosening.</p><p></p><p>He yelled to the stone Giant, "try working the chains to pull free!"</p><p></p><p>As the giant moved, the links shifted and one slid up the crowbar, almost taking off Donnell's hand. He pulled his hand away just in time as he watch the crowbar bend and snap.
