[QUOTE="mfloyd3, post: 8045006, member: 23867"] Alara nodded, outwardly seeming cool but satisfied with the terms. But inwardly, hope flared. If someone were risking the wrath of House Orien with a blackmail scheme, there had to be something very valuable involved. Something, perhaps, that might not constitute "evidence". She walked with the others down to the quartermaster, waiting her turn until she could step up to the counter. She smiled at the old, one-armed dwarf. "Do you think you could spare a few things for a civilian consultant?" She asked. "We'll need some paper, a quill and ink, and some sealing wax to file reports and send messages back. Oh, and a signal whistle would be a good idea, don't you think?" The dwarf nodded gruffly, seeming pleased enough to have some simple requests He returned a moment later and slid a small bundle of writing supplies and a battered tin whistle across the counter to her. His one eye played along the whistle, as though expecting the aristocrat to complain about the quality, but Alara deliberately wrong-footed him. "Seen some use," she said approvingly. "Must be good if it's made its way home." The quartermaster seemed taken off-guard by this tack, and while he blinked his one eye owlishly, Alara added, "Do you think you could spare a healing potion? It's a dangerous job, and we don't all have the Watch's training." For a moment, the Dwarf hesitated, then he recovered himself. "Can't do it," he said gruffly. "Hazardous duty only, and I need to put a badge number down for it." Alara nodded. "Of course," she said. "Thank you for the supplies." She stepped away from the counter. "On to the kobolds?" She asked, after the others had finished drawing their gear. [ooc] Items requisitioned: Ink pen, ink, signal whistle, and (if you'll count it as one) 30 sheets of paper.
