Rise of the Dracolich Chapter Five: Oyaviggaton The ice-hunter guards fanned out in a formation from which they could make a reasonable attack, but they shouted and pointed, trying to drive the newcomers away. Loklafd argued with them, telling them that they were here to find Maccath the Crimson for the Arcane Brotherhood and were under the command of Andruss the Dusk, and he indicated Mord. The ice-hunters looked at each other nervously, doubtful of their chances against a wizard. After some debate among themselves, the ice-hunter guards agreed to take the wizard and his underlings to meet with their chief in a small village high on the ice-shelf above them. It was quite the climb up stairs carved into an icy chasm, followed by a hike across an uneven and slowly rising plateau fractured by narrow ice chasms and divided by rills, snowdrifts, and ice ridges taller than a man, sculpted by sea spray and wind. The ridges blocked the view of the village until they were almost upon it. The first sight that greeted the group when they approached the cluster of huts on the icy plateau was a row of ten corpses frozen into a wall of ice: three Luskar warriors, a dwarf, and six Ice Hunters. The bodies had been preserved in the ice, making it impossible to tell how long they’d been there.
