Dandin & Snake While Snake was looking for a good rat for a meal, he ran into Dandin, who was on his way to see the captured boat and the local shipwright. The subject of Sir Isteval's invite came up. Snake was dubious that the Knight would serve anything he would like to eat, but decided that it would be nice to get to know the people he had fought along-side the night before. Spotting a nice-looking rat running along a building's gutter, Snake bade Dandin a good-day and scurried up a drain-spout onto the roof. Dandin marvelled at the cat-folk and then continued down to the dock, where he found the boat secured to the dock. River-folk nodded to him and waved, and it was clear that the boat would be left alone until someone decided what to do with it. In the light of day, Dandin noted the copious number of arrows protruding from the sides and he wondered how he or anyone else aboard had survived. Confirming that the design of the boat was a match to some of the others about (including Janos' boat), he asked a dock-man about it. "It's one of ours, all right." the man confirmed, but could say no more about it. So Dandin went back into town and asked about the Sullerton Shipbuilders. His questions piqued the interest of Nigel Sullerton, one of the matriarch's sons, who accompanied Dandin back down to the dock with a few tools. Removing a few of the goblin's "changes" (shields, spikes, and reinforcements of the prow for ramming were among the things the goblins had done to the boat, much to the shipwright's distaste) they discovered the "signature" (a carved block that contained information that was meaningless to Dandin). Nigel Sullerton and Dandin returned to the Shipbuilders, where they went into an office, and Nigel got a slightly-sawdusty folio down from a shelf, and leafed through it until he said: "Yes, here we have it: It was built about ten years ago, right here in Sullerton's, by commission for a man named Harry Hardyew out of Julkoun for use of trade up the Shining River to Secomber. She's fallen on hard times to be converted into a goblin raiding-boat, poor thing." [ooc]Places of Daggerford: Sullerton Shipbuilders (Area 30) The enormous building housing Sullerton Shipbuilders has changed hands and names many times, but its purpose has remained the same for over a century: building boats for river travel. The current owners are the Sullertons, a family of humans who include Wilma Sullerton, matriarch of the clan and current leader of the Carpenters’ Guild. Recent troubles in the area have resulted in less logging, leading to a dwindling of the Sullertons’ wood supplies. Wilma is eager to push the Council of Guilds to do something about it.[/ooc]
