As the Daggerfordians left Enfield, Dandin recalled how he'd left Morninglow Tower. Luc Sunbright was a self-important man, but he was also well respected by the highest ranking people in the city - the Duke, the guild-heads, the wealthy merchants. Aside from Sir Isteval and his friends, and the Wizard Delfin, nearly everyone of import in Daggerford had attended the dinner, and Dandin was very proud of how he'd handled it. At the end of his speech, there was clapping and table-thumping, and a few cries of "hear hear!" The Duke had quietly nodded, and made no immediate promises, but Dandin was sure that he would be constantly pressured by others to help. Soon enough, Dandin felt, a movement toward proper, intelligent defense would emerge. Dandin was in the back of the War Wagon, writing letters and doing sums for his shipping business as the wagon gently rocked side-to-side. Enseth sat silently across from him and Dandin wasn't sure what to make of the shield guardian. The big metal construct had always been strange, but he seemed different somehow since returning from Julkoun. Outside, Tommi was riding next to Lionel while Angis was on the roof. An overloaded wagon rode into a view over a rise in the dirt road. Tommi waved, and the driver pulled to one side, calling, "Ye'd best not go on, friends. Much of us are headin' to Daggerford. Orcs are raidin' the farms near Newfield an' I hear they've got the elf-hold under siege, they do. 'Twas voted this mornin' to move under the Duke's protection. More of us are comin' this way." Sure enough, another wagon rode into view behind that one.
