"I have used those gates extensively over the course of my life. I know them well. I was not far away when they were activated, leading the defenses on the ground floor in the kitchen. I could... feel that they were in use." Sir Darfin explained to Escella "I left Talynen in charge and came to see what transpired, expecting to find that Shalendra was using the gates to bring in allies on her own initiative, or barring that, to be defending herself. I did not expect to find that she had invited in a Red Wizard. Nor that your friend Titus would stand aside as I was betrayed." The group moved down the tunnel to the Shrine to Corellon, where Titus sat on the ground, nursing his wounds in defeat. "We will put him in a cell until I have time to speak to him." declared the elf lord. Titus was dragged off, still mostly senseless, down the next corridor to the guard barracks. On the left side of the room was a small two-celled prison. Titus was left on a cot in one of the cells while Talynen took the keys from a hook and locked the iron gate on the unfortunate nobleman. Across from the prison, Sir Darfin stepped beside one of the barrack's bunks and slid his hand along a seam in the stonework. Suddenly and smoothly, what had looked like a solid stone wall pivoted inward, revealing a narrow hallway. "A shortcut to the pantry." the elf lord smiled for the first time since he'd been freed from the Iron Bands. He suddenly recalled showing his sister the way when she was only a little girl of not more than twenty, and the smile vanished.
