Felix sighs, and stares off into the darkened chamber, knowing that there is nothing there to see. "Ironic. Very ironic. It would seem that none of us really want to be here, there is simply somewhere else that we don't wish to be even more. Fate has a sense of humor, after all." Felix pauses for a moment, considering if he should tell the truth to Derin. He turns it over in his head for a second, and decides. "It's for the best. Trust is important." Felix continues to keep his gaze off of Derin and on the darkness, and recounts his tale. "There isn't much to tell, really. I was traveling with a sorcerer by the name of Maya. She was a pleasant person, very friendly and easy to get along with. We were both on our way to Kracen, as well. We met at a crossroads, she suggested that there was safety in numbers, and we departed for Kracen." Felix takes a deep breath, trying to control the unpleasant images entering his mind. "We traveled together for a few days, told a few stories, and made good progress. We decided that it would probably be safer to stick to high ground, to avoid the possibility of running into anything, dead or otherwise. We were traveling along a ridge, when suddenly, a small portion of it broke away." "Small, but large enough," Felix thought. "She slipped. I threw out my hand to try to catch her, and I fell, as well. We began to tumble down the side of the cliff. She quickly invoked a spell to slow our fall, and it worked. Instead of falling to our death, we fell right in front of a group of walkers." Felix gives a faint shudder. "We saw the door. She opened it. I entered. She didn't. Not in time, anyway. They dragged..." Felix chokes on the word, and stops. He gives a faint whisper. "I tried..." His eyes harden, and Felix's cold gaze meets Derin's eyes again, and his voice becomes flat. "I'd rather not talk about it anymore." "My luck is my own business," he thought grimly to himself.
