Goin' aboard It was a long and nervous wait for Tobius on the docks that day. The occasional human servant walking by in the livery of his old lord made him duck and hide behind larger humanoids, and the fact he had so many parcels also added to his nervousness. The trader who had allowed him to purchase his pre-paid spot from him had also sold him a moderate amount of spices and other trade goods. These Tobius had packed away amoungst his few other belongings as securely as he could, but still he expected misfortunate to happen. A roguish individual himself, Tobius expected little better from others. Nonetheless, he was left with a number of bulky packages - his parcels of spice and leaves, his two instruments, and a backpack full of clothes. All had embroidered on his initials *TR*, but that seemed like scarce comfort to the nervous halfling that day. Tobius was glad enough that the larger, meaner humanoids were in a different line, and hoped they wouldn't be travelling on the same ship. 'Well, enough,' Tobius thought, 'Everyone likes a bard - especially sailors. Hopefully that'll be enough to win some respect.' Finally, the line began to move foward at the command of a human sailor, and within a couple hours, Tobius Roeper was on board the Illumina. <time passes> Below decks was a mess, and filled with the fresh smells of many different races and products mingling together for the first time. No doubt, the cargo would be packed away, but the long sea voyage would only turn the queer aromatic mixture of smells rank. 'Couldn't be much worse than Da's farm...' thought Tobius. It was then that the ensign leading one of the group of arrivees arrived at Cabin 12. One of the halflings already there complained at the extra bodies, but evidently nothing could be done about that. Introductions were made, which Tobius accepted with a smile, especially that of Haley's. When it was his turn, he returned the introduction in carefully polished common with only a few dropped consonants showing his rural ancestry. "The name's Tobius, and I'm pleased to meet you all," he began. "I'm a bard by trade, I trade by neccessity, and I'm no doubt as pleased as you that we're not sharing this room with any of the overly large sort that were hulking about the dock today." With that a broad smile to Haley, Tobius began to look around for a safe place to begin storing his "stuff." Tobius is 3'4", weighs in at under 40 pounds, and wears brown rugged (but loose) travelling clothes, with a belt pouch and belt knife secured at his waist. He wears a cloth cap at a jaunty angle that mostly covers his blond hair, except for the short pony-tail that hangs down slightly past his shoulders. He wears little ornamentation except for an obviously hand-woven beaded necklace, and a steel signet ring on his right hand. His blue eyes flicker with energy, and he takes everything in with a cool but friendly gaze. Deep beneath that is a slight flicker of nervousness, but it is controlled like a performer going about his routine. -Frelaras AS Tobius Roeper, Halfling at Large
