Small and innocuous Kaufman watched, and listened, they were things he was good at, things he enjoyed. He listened to snippets of conversation, caught glimpses of writing on labels, and he remembered and filed it away. He had made a point of wondering near the sheltered courseway of the First Tier elites. Mingling with their servants, watching and listening for any bits of gossip or other information he might glean. 'Port Opal' he grinned 'three ships setting out to colonise 'the new world'. You had to ask yerself' he considered 'just why the elites would want to leave the luxury of home to sail across to some savage land'. No doubt some were younger siblings in high families looking to establish themselves, others might be officials of the Empire, and a few might be ripe for exploitation. Those who were irksome to the powers-that-be but whose status gave them some protection. The goblin began to hum, it relaxed him allowed him to order his mind. As he did he moved back down to the third tier line boarding the Illumina. 'The Hob and Human soldiers would need to be watched too' he thought 'of course a new settlement would have a substantial garrison, but seperation from the central authority might reduce their dilligence and loyalty' - all important factors to be considered **************************************************** and then there was cabin 12. When he arrived he found it already amply populated with a motley bunch of humanoids. Two gobbos besides himself, one of whom, in a heavy robe and hard features seemed somewhat distant, unwilling to reveal himself. The other was far more approachable but possibly somewhat unstable- Kaufman would have to befirend him before the trip was out. An elf had entered just before him and Kaufman scoured at its back. 'Marec' -Kaufman made a note of the name- he looked dangerous, and besides this goblin didn't like elfs. The others he also assessed as his gaze swept over them and he listened to their words or watched their actions - 4 halflings, 2 love birds, a cute female 'possible ally Kaufman thought' and a boy obviously out to start a new life and not seem like too much of a hick. The brothers he would need to watch and the gnome could either be an interesting ally or an annoying bugger **************************************************** He stopped humming - in fact he hadn't even been aware that he was humming -but he had to stop it now so he could speak "Glad to meet us all" he grin enthusiatically making sure to take in the whole room with his smile "I am Kaufman and it seems that like you all, one of the many about to embark on this new dawn. I pray that we all shall find what we are looking for and if not at least we can find comfort and charity amongst ourselves." With that he offers a hand of friendship to Kenniwick and should the gnome respond in kind similar greetings to the others in the room... (ooc so did I hear any inresting gossip as I went around? oh and was that for Diplomacy?
