Hey guys, I was surfing around last night, and it looks like the Drizzt movie is going to be a reality! http://www.dreamworks.com/movies/Icewind Dreamworks picked up the picture, hoping to make a fortune on the heels of LotR success. They have already gotten most of the cast hired and will begin filming in August. Drizzt will be played by Will Smith. Says director Sandy McDermott, they wanted someone who could handle the rough action scenes in the script, as well as reflect the razor wit that has made Drizzt a favorite of fantasy fans everywhere. As usual, Mr. Smith will perform on the soundtrack. "Ain't Down wit the Drow" is a dance and rap piece that reflects the character's rejection of his people. Breunor Battlehammer will be played by Danny Devito. One of the reasons for choosing him for the part was that other than a red beard, Mr. Devito will require no makeup. Some fans are upset, as the script does deviate from canon, as its devoted fans refer to the 37 novels featuring these characters. Regis was removed, as the producer felt 'people were sick of hobbits, after that Rings movie.' As well as the cat Guenhwevar. Appearantly, none of the cast or crew could figure out how to pronounce it. Instead, Drizzt's companion will be a puppy named Scraps. Scraps does the narrative, provided by Bruce Willis. Some of Drizzt's most devoted fans say they will boycott the movie. "Salvatore must be rolling over in his grave over this. I love Drizzt, I based the entire DMG on making a cool world for Drizzt." says role playing game designer Monte Cook. Time will tell if this feature will capture the mass market, or just become something for people to complain about on internet message boards."
