On January 3, 2005, Interactive Design Adventures releases a d20 psionics sourcebook called Mind Over Matter. The book features a unique skill-based approach to psionics in the d20 System. Mind Over Matter is a 48-page illustrated PDF file priced at $6, and it includes an added printer-friendly PDF for faster downloading and quicker printing. The book features a cover illustration by Marcum N. Curlee, and both Marcum N. Curlee and Jacob E. Blackmon provided interior art.
Mind Over Matter is the seventh gaming product by Interactive Design Adventures. Designer Steve Miller (author of Steve Miller’s 30-Minute RPG project and extensive contributor to the Ravenloft, Dragonlance, and Star Wars game lines) wrote the book with the help of T. Craig Drake and Dave Mendez. Additionally another veteran of the gaming industry, Owen K.C. Stephens, coauthor of Power of the Jedi and EverQuest Player's Handbook, served as creative director for the project. Mind Over Matter brings fans of the d20 System a more in-depth psionics options for their campaigns. Also, in addition to the new rules for d20 System psionics, Mind Over Matter contains three new base classes, four prestige classes, new equipment, and numerous feats for use with the system.
"To me, the psionics system in D&D just didn't capture the feel of how these mental powers appear on TV, in movies, books, and even comic books," said Mind Over Matter's lead designer Steve Miller. "I think this system portrays psionics in a far better way, mechanically. It was fairly simple to accomplish -- instead of mimicking the standard spellcasting system of the core game, we used the skills and feat system to mirror mental powers. This way, each psionicist can be different by selecting feats and applying skill points to emphasize this psionic ability or that psionic ability."
