She can always choose to cross class the skills to keep searched maxed out. With solid casting on both arcane and divine, there are plenty of methods of dealing with traps once the trap is found. Not to mention with about 5k gold you can get +10 on search checks to find traps. I wouldn't suggest taking more rogue, if she wants to become more of a caster. The PrCs people have already mentioned are a good suggestion. I have always liked taking a few levels Unseen Seer on arcane rogue builds. The ability to cast both Grave Strike and Golem Strike in addition to another sneak attack die makes that class amasing for dipping. The catch is the skill requirements. I would retrain the ranger levels into Abjurant Champion and Unseen Seer, but the requirements might be difficult. If she does end up going abjurant champion, you might want to see if your DM will allow Illuminous Armor spell from Book of Exalted Deeds. It is one of the few adjuration spells that gives armor other than shield (though any DM in there right mind shouldn't whole sale this spell EVER)
