Idenynia and environs

Kognus

First Post
Once a picturesque elven city, it is obvious to any eye that war has come to Idenynia. Gone are the children and the elderly. Gone are the wonderful smells and noises of the peaceful elven community. Flashes of silver are what is reflected in one's eyes now and the clatter of heavy, metal armor echos in one's ears. Orders can be heard and the shuffle of rushing feet are far to common. Can Indenynia survive the winter?

Besieged for over a year by orcs from the north, Idenynia has spent the summer resupplying. New recruits from the Academy arrive every day and are pressed into service against the orcs. The battle for this beutiful elven city is far from won and increased sightings of undead close to the elven tree city has many worried and clutching their holy symbols.A few hearty adventurers have come from other kingdoms to help push the tide of orcs back and see about reclaiming some of the elven forest.

Thor Emblem leads the elven forces as well as the humans from Caedmon. His heroic stand against the orcs last year is still sung in many taverns across Aerde. Prince Dolan from Caedmon has recently come to aid his elven neighbors.

Idenynia:
Population: 10,000 (Elves 60%,humans 30%, half-elves 5%, others 5%)
GP Limit: 10,000gp
Alignment: CG
Authority: Yaris Thornbird-high mage runs city affairs and Thor Emblem leads the army
Temples: X

Preparing for war over the last summer has left Idenynia well stocked in most goods and the Tree Ways make it easier for supplies to get here even in the heaviest snow. Most people in the city are supporting the war one way or another and do their best to help anyone fighting the orcs.

About 40 miles down the coast from Idenynia is a disguised cove-like area with hidden docks, where supplies and reinforcements are unloaded. They make their way along a hidden treetop highway to make it to Idenynia, only having to travel along the ground at a couple of points, which the Orcs raid heavily.

The orcs throughout the area are travelling in groups of 5-15 for the most part, as both sides have taken for now to a guerrilla style of warfare.

Upstream following the stream that enters the sea at the hidden docks, perhaps 10-15 miles, is the elven Druid Lalyn, who's encampment is mostly treetop. He uses the woodland animals as spies against the Orcs.

Within 50 miles of Idenynia, it is rumored, one in ten who die Rise spontaneously as undead, apparently with no cause or direction (though they are decidedly more aggressive towards Elves, they will attack Elf or Orc). The locals have taken to decapitating the deceased to prevent this, but those who fall in battle can not always be reached and the area is slowly getting thicker and thicker with undead of all types.
