Oh, you'll have them soon enough. I have a 6 month old son (born on time... my wife's pregnancies were weirdly spot on when it came to expected due dates) who's totally Mr. Happy at day care. The teachers there think he's one of the happiest babies they've ever seen, all smiley and everything. But yesterday, after the in-laws flew back to California, he turned into a bi-polar baby. He'd be all squeally and squirmy, nearly diving off the couch if my wife hadn't grabbed his leg. Next moment he'd turn into Frankie McCranky and yowl at us. When I changed his diaper at 1:30am, he cried hysterically sounding uncannily like a siren. Then I figured out part of the problem with a little help from him this morning. Turns out he hadn't pooped at all on Sunday. Then this morning, he finally had the mother of all bowel movements and blew out the top of his diaper and left leg, pretty much filling up the leg of his sleeper. He had an emergency bath after that and seemed to be in much higher spirits. And my wife was wondering why I was so happy with one child who was long out of diapers. Oh, well. My son Griffin is a sweet little guy, even if he does abuse diapers with a vengeance.
