My middle son (10) just got into claymation/stop motion movies. We got one of those cheesy ball cameras and the software from a garage sale. On a boring rainy Saturday, I suggested that he try it out and showed him the basics. He sat there for the next two days making progressively weirder little movies. All them tended to end with a clay wall going up and a little fat dude waddling from behind it, then the wall collapsing. It was amazing to watch him learn new tricks on his own.
