I've played MW3 and, as I mentioned in my post earlier, it has the greatest character creation system ever! Well, it's a lot of fun at any rate, involving life paths and random events, which generally have to be approached with some leniency so that players can get characters of the type they want. On the other hand, sometimes it's fun to just see where you end up! :) The mechanics for it are kind of clunky though. For Mech combat, you're pretty much best off using the Battletech system, and your PCs stats can pretty easily be turned into pilot values for that. Otherwise, it has a sort of Shadowrun-esque feel (if you've ever read the story at the beginning of the MW3 manual, you'll know what I mean), except with a clunkier and somewhat peculiar combat resolution/skill resolution mechanic. It's hard to explain and I don't remember it too well, having not played it in years and even then having stuck mostly with the BT elements. It's pretty complex otherwise. Even so, we definitely had some fun with it and it was eminently more successful than MW2, IMO.
