if your DM gave you 200,000 in magicals-what would you buy?

[QUOTE="Elric, post: 2072152, member: 1139"] If a player would buy a Ring of Elemental Command if it cost, say, 150k, then giving him 200k won't result in a significant power increase over a baseline character. What if he spends some of it to increase his "numbers" like this, though: +6 Int (36k) +4 Con (16k) +2 Dex (4k) +2 deflection (8k) +2 natural armor (8k) +5 resistance (25k) +1 Defending Dagger of Parrying (Psi HB is where you find Parrying- it gives +1 insight AC and saves while weapon is used, costs +8k, use Greater Magic Weapon to make this dagger +3, then transfer all of the +3 to your AC each turn- I'm not sure if this trick works in 3.5, though) (16k total) +4 Mithril Buckler (has no armor check penalty b/c of Mithril, 17k) You have now spent 130k (you have 70 left). To show you how much of an increase in numbers this gets you, From these magic items alone (you have the mage armor spell and probably other defensive magics) you get +14 AC (+1 Increased Dex, +2 Deflection, +2 Nat Armor, +1 Insight, +3 Defending Weapon, +5 Mithril Buckler). You get +8 Fort/+7 Ref/+6 Will saves. You have 24 extra hit points (probably an increase of about 30%), quite a few extra spells, your save DCs are 3 higher than before. Plus, you have 70k left to spend. Do a little optimization (instead of buying a Staff of Power and calling it done) and 200k is an enormous amount of money for a 12th level character. I would "guesstimate” the amount of treasure necessary to make a 12th level character as powerful as a 14 level character to be somewhere between 250-350 thousand gp (depending on the character, they get a different amount of power from the gold pieces associated with an increase in level, but especially for fighter-types this should be quite large).
