I'm naming my NPCs from my spam.

Testing new spam software the last couple weeks, I've been paying closer attention than normal to who my email is coming from -- to set up the filters.

The "sender" names being used by spammers these days (randomly generated, I believe) are leaving an amazing cast of characters in my mailbox!

This is my new source of names for NPCs, not mention possible new characters and even adventure ideas. Here's a few of the "folks" that have shown up in my mailbox just in the last couple days:

Leandro Mazur
Damien Longoria
Jewel B. McElroy
Bobby Mock
Dee McGee
Johnny Meek

Great stuff......

Yes! I love doing this, and those are beautiful, BTW. One of my characters, a cleric, had a mentor named Father Pingrey Tollman, which was swiped from spam I received. I believe the "real" Mr. Tollman was trying to sell me Viagra. :D

Rel here on ENWorld has been doing this since early last year. :)

As for me, I recently had the pleasure of knowing:

Granya Barger
Cilian Wise
Jabr Shepard
Daly Hope
Labhra Short
Lesa Neal
Merlyn (yes, MERLYN!)
Zena (yes, ZENA!)
and Daphne Mercado. :)

The best I've ever received was from Jesus Mercado. He promised me some cheap Canadian meds, but I live in Canada and already get them...

Check out this list.

Good idea. I did something similar in the past... used my company email directory. I used to work in a huge corporation - 40,000+ employees - so, if I needed an NPC name, I'd just say, "I want a name that begins with M" and then my email directory would start at M and I'd start scrolling through names with beginning with M. (or, if I was really picky, I'd say, "well, I want something beginning with "Th" or "De" or "Go"...)

I think that such characters as Minotaur H. Bollas are going to appear in my game sometime soon now...

Demiurge out.

PS: Minotaur? I mean, really? Why would spammers send out stuff under the name Minotaur?
