The thing that gets me is how well everyone takes it -- that I've seen anyhow. I don't exactly make a habit of watching the show. Usually, I just catch glimpses while flipping channels or the start or end when watching something else on Sci-Fi. You never see anyone get really mad and deck the "friend" that set them up for this. If someone had set me up for something like this, I'd be extremelyangry with them. I figure the whole thing is staged and the "victims" are just actors like everyone else. If nothing else, the risk of missing something when setting up a stunt is too great. What if the victim has a pocket knife (as someone suggested) and stabs your "madman/monster/whatever"? What if the victim has a gun he keeps concealed somewhere handy but which his "friend" doesn't know about and blasts your monster into next week? What if the victim manages to get hold of a tire iron, stout piece of wood, rock or some other bludgeoning weapon, or just plain knows how to use his fists and turns on your "madman/monster/whatever"?The same goes for victims injuring themselves while getting away. Some of those pranks involve victims driving cars. What if someone gets scared and doesn't drive off, but rather runs your "monster" over. What if someone gets suspicious about all the strange people crawling around the victim's house while he isn't home and calls the cops? What if the victim has a bad heart that even he didn't know about and the scare kills him? What if you manage to clear the victim and his environment, but another friend who isn't in on it shows up and has a weapon, calls the police or keels over from a heart attack? As a last resort, what if the victim turns around and sues everyone involved? There's just too many ways for this sort of thing to go terribly wrong. You know what I'd love to see? I'd like to see a show where someone called "Scare Tactics" in to play a prank on someone and then turns the tables on them. Set up your own hidden cameras and then wait for them to set up their bigfoot or alien prank. Then, have the "victim" shout something like "Yes! I'm gonna bag proof they really exist!", pull out an assault rifle (loaded with blanks, of course) and proceed to watch the Scare Tactics jerks freak out!
