I'm sure this has been asked B4, but still...

Okay, I have a question about the OGL/D20 license. Simple answers please, I'm a simple person. :) Here it goes:

If I just use the SRD and A) I affix no claims that it is compatible with D20, DnD, or any other game, B) include the OGL in the book, and C) do not include the names of anyone who origonally created D20, I CAN create a game that does include rules for character creation and character advancement.

If I use the SRD and want to use the D20 logo and claim compatibility with D20, I CANNOT include rules for character creation or character advancement in the game.

Is this correct?

As far as it goes, I believe that is correct. There are lots of people on this board who know more about it than I do, though. Hopefully they'll chime in.

You might want to edit the title of your thread to more clearly reflect your question (and, thus, attract potential posters who'd know the answer). As it is now, "I'm sure this has been asked B4, but still..." could be about absolutely anything.

Correct. Other than Section 15 Copyright Notice, there should not be any names of anyone who created the d20 System rules elsewhere.

Correct.

What if character creation uses a new method, such as a point based method, to determine everything, but it is still compatible with d20 in all ways other than lets say no classes, or levels but like I said totally point based?

If it offers a new character creation method, then you can't use the D20 logo.

The d20 STL forbids any character creation rules, even ones significantly different from those found in the core rules. An OGL product, however, may have any sort of character creation rules therein.
