The really sad part is, these folks think they are doing something good.
Sometimes, it's not that they're doing something good for other people, but that they're looking out for themselves.
If they think that they are commanded to do these things, and they stand to lose something if they fail to comply (e.g., paradise), then they aren't going to pay much attention to rules and laws that restrict their behavior. In fact, if they get in trouble for, say, stuffing peoples' mailboxes, they are quite likely, in my experience, to start telling themselves that they are the ones wronged by The Man, and congratulating themselves on "suffering" for their cause.
But it's never about you; it's always about them, and their rewards and/or punishments.
It sucks that these guys pressured your landlord to get you to move; has the group found a new hangout yet?
