Message: <blockquote data-quote="physicscarp" data-source="post: 678089" data-attributes="member: 7207">Geek among geeksWow.  I can't believe that this is really a problem.  I've never bothered to hide my gaming, but I also don't regale my coworkers with tails of my latest adventures, because I know they just aren't interested and might just not understand.  It's the same reason I don't discuss general relativity theory with them.  Or my girlfriend.  Or my mom.  Or...well, you get the point.  I don't hide it though.  Just last December, a coworker asked me if I'd be attending the work Christmas party on Friday night.  I turned to her, and simply said, "It's gaming night" because that's all the explanation that is needed.As for being a geek, I embraced that long ago, particularly when I declared my physics major.  Now that I teach physics in high school, some of the kids have found out that I game, JUST LIKE THEY DO!!!  I am now first geek among geeks, and in some students' eyes, the coolest teacher to walk the Earth.  Being a gamer may just impress someone.  You never know.Carp</blockquote>
