Hey Rhuarc dude! :) I've mentioned this before but its almost impossible to get anything substantial done during a normal week even when I am only working part-time on this nightshift even when I basically have the perfect rota to give me the maximum number of consecutive days off (without getting ridiculous and doing the whole month's work in one go). What generally happens is that your first day off work you sleep in (because your 'bio-clock' is still used to being up at night, which means I probably get up around 5-6pm. That means trying to get to sleep that night is a total nightmare - anything before 5am is virtually impossible, which means you sleep in late the next day too. You get it back about 3 hours per day, which means by the time you are back to normal its time to go back to work. I am experimenting more with working in the middle of the night but it still feels weird. Its not like getting up in the morning, putting in your 8 hours work and then unwind the rest of the day (my unwinding is often me brainstorming one project or another). So throw in your regular real life stuff and the time honestly does seem to disappear. Looking at the regulations, I can seemingly take 3 months of the year off on unpaid leave (as long as it doesn't involve December). I may try and set things up so that I get one month off every fourth month. That should be sufficient to get things back on track (or at least back on track for me that is). It would also take a bit of pressure off the other three months (out of the four).
