Akara knows he is without rights, and, in principle, accepts this: Dragonborn are not overly welcome in the town at any rate, and since his bloodline—however distantly—is cognate with that of the Green dragon overlord (his first puff of poison gas when he was a child attracted the attention of the city administrators). Drunken mobs of citizens have broken his limbs for this, because of who he is, and, though these attempts are fewer now that he is full grown, they still might if the circumstances warrant—a silent protest against the wizard’s impositions, or against Rixallithen’s. Akara has learned what he can, and is slightly more capable than Oakspine believes. He is familiar to some of the villagers, who have never seen him defy authority, and many know he is being punished, lashed, scarred, and used, only because of circumstances beyond his control. Akara has even traveled outside of the village a few times, when Oakspine has wanted to have reports of what has transpired outside of his ken. Each time, Akara has returned, bringing reports that have proved of moderate use to the elf. (If this is too antithetical to the concept of the town, a rival thought I had is a half-elf rogue focusing on diplomacy and intimidation. But I like the idea of Phillian sending his slave on the quest (whatever it is!) to keep tabs on its progress.)</blockquote>
