In-game and historical matters regarding the Jotunbrud feat

Hello,

I have a new character, a human fighter from Damara, whom I've given the Jotunbrud feat (Races of Faerûn). I have some questions related to the feat as well as the Damaran society.

The feat's description says: "You are descended from the giants who ruled the mountain-spanning empire of Ostoria in ages past, and possess a truly impressive stature."

1) What is Ostoria? I've tried looking it up in FRCS, but I can't find anything. Where can I read about it?

2) How are 'jotunbruds' (what does the name mean, anyway?) accepted in the Damaran society, and how many of them exists? What are their typical professions?

3) Describe your jotunbrud character (in regards of flavour, not rules), please!

Thanks in advance!

Gah; I have to do something about that animation in my signature. ^^

Wait, you're in Sweden, and you're asking us what jotunbrud means? I assumed it meant giantblood -- in some quasi-Nordic tongue.

Hmm, I haven't thought of the possibility that it might be a Nordic(-ish) word. It seems reasonable though. :)
In Sweden, giantblood translates into 'jätteblod', which is quite similar to 'jotunbrud', don't you think? I wonder if it could be an Icelandic word...

Ostoria was completly covered in 2eds giantcraft book. It was a continent spanning empire of giants that ruled most of faerun and was destroyed by fighting with dragons.

Jotunbrud means giant brood or giant blood....self explanatory there.

I would imagine they fit quite well into normal society as they seem just to be huge physically impressive humans, and I would imagine they would take jobs as either warriors or blacksmiths and possibly hunters.

I used to have a jotunbrud fighter/barb npc that was specialized in grappling

In norwegian 'brud' means bride, I guess that could fit.

Woohoo, first post!

And in my campaign, I have two players with the feat. Makes the monk a nasty tripper. But of course, they only took it for the rules benefits. Never again!

I could be wrong (and probably am) but I think I remember there beign an ogre-giant kingdom north of Zhentil Keep. The kingdom had a name (Vassa or maybe that is what it is called now) that may be it.

There is also a "story" in 2E FR Powers and Pantheons under the giant god Uluie (sp?). I think I remember it referenceing a giant kingdom as well.

Of course, the previous poster is 100% right about Giantcraft. It is in there but you may find some additional info in my (probably incorrect) suggestions.
