In the Name of the King

It's a multiplayer FPS with magic, elves, dwarves, orcs and trolls. That's about what it has in common with Shadowrun apparantly.

It's also available for PC (Vista only).

MS didn't get the license for it... they just had it, because they bought the whole exclusive rights for FASA games with FASA Interactive (later FASA Studios) mostly because of Battletech, I suppose (the rest just happened to be part of the deal).

Well, the Battletech games were fun. But then, I have never played the wargame or read the books, so I can't tell how much was distorted there.

I think that is completely possible to make a good movie based on the game. That is rarely done I think has more to do with the methods than with the notions.

To make a Dungeon Siege movie, personally I would have gone with the red-headed female lead, someone fairly buffed. While it may have started out with farming and the krug, there would of been a lot of fast forward glossing over, with an adventure leading to the goblins and then onto the Seck and Gom. Ulora, Gyorn and Merrick probably would have been the companions. And I would have found a real director, not a hack like Boll.

It was pretty accurate, actually. MW4 was my least favorite because it lost the core of that game system...customization. The old books were great, but later on I think the quality declined and the universe revamps/generations really made it a mess IMO.

You could very easly make movie adaptations of mechwarrior...but the same can be said about D&D. Can and do are very different things.

Slight thread hijack:

I watched No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain Monday night. He was in Vancouver. He's visiting friends, yada yada, he's on a zip line in the woods, yada yada, he's on the set of an Uwe Boll film, yada ya...da? Wait, what?!

Yes, Bourdain visited Boll on the set of Farcry. He even has a two second cameo as a nameless scientist who gets gunned down. The funny thing is that, after getting shot, Bourdain immediately gets back up again. Boll is a little upset since, well, dead people usually don't pop back up. Bourdain apologizes and Boll tells him not to worry about it, he'll edit it so you can't even tell (now we know the secret of Uwe's success: no second takes!). ;)

We actually do get to see the scene as it will appear in the film. How was it? Let's just says that if you don't like his work now, this isn't going to win you over.

EDIT: Bourdain also visited EA (Electronic Arts). It was hysterical to see the boss present the place as a workers' paradise with no set hours considering they got sued for forcing people to work long hours with no overtime. :uhoh:
