Incarnum

I am trying to understand how the incarnum abilities work. I understand how you can use essence points to incrase abilities depending on what item you wear in what slot. TH eproblem i have is can you wear the incarnum item and a magic item in teh same slot, or am i completely not understanding the rules,

It's been a while since I read MoI, but I believe that having a Soulmeld in a particular slot prevents you from wearing a magic item in that same slot, in the same way as you cannot occupy the same Chakra with more than one Soulmeld.

Dont have the book on me, but if I remember correctly you can have a Soulmeld and a magic item occury the same spot as long as you dont bind the Soulmeld to that spot.

Correct.

Soulmeld is the 'minor' bind. You can still use magic items in that slot.
If you then go and bind that meld to the chakra, then you cant use any magic item in the slot as the meld effectively becomes a magic item.

There IS an exception in a feat that lets you get away with it.
