Pathfinder 1E Inconveniently Large Minis

Fauchard1520

I love me some mammoth riders and dinosaur knights. The only problem is that they're obnoxiously big on the battlefield. We're talking squeezing rules, moving-through-creatures-two-size-categories-larger-than-you rules, and all the weird corner cases of mounted combat on large bases.

So here's my question to my fellow Pathfinders. How do you handle uncomfortably large minis on the battle mat? Do you ignore certain rules for the sake of convenience? Or do you just leave Dumbo tethered to the dungeon entrance every time?

(Comic for illustrative purposes.)

Pokeball, go!

The only time this was ever really a problem was when there was a PC riding a Dire Bat. It's size large, so 10x10x10. But the description says its wingspan is much wider. The PC and the GM getting into arguments over whether it could fly down the 10 ft wide hallway, how the rider sat on top of it without braining himself on the ceiling, etc. Ugh. Bad memories.
