Info on Stargate SG1 RPG...

Thunderstorm

First Post
I am planning to create, and have already done a lot of research on a Stargate setting, but (and I may be a heretic here), but...I never liked the SG1 series. I don't like the series the way it was written and I think that it should have played out differently.

Is the SG 1 book worth buying even though I am not using anything from the series, or should I just stick to the Spycraft rules that I will be using??

If your not recreating the series I don't think theres much point having the book. I'd stick with spycraft and get what info you need from online sources.

Well, it kinda depends...
The SG-1 book will give you a slew of new departments and informatio on some of the alien races, a new base clase for Jaffa, two new prestige classes for the Jafaa and Goa'uld, a bunch of feats for aliens, a new way of providing gear adapted to a more military miindset, a revamped/revised/reedited skill system with a lot more detail and clarity and about 2 years worth of errat and gained experience plugged back iont the core system. If you can get it at a local stare and flip through it you'll be able to make a more informed decision. You might want it, you might get by with Spycraft, but as the line goes on,it'll become more usefull to you, as it's the baseline from which we're developing new stuff, and if there are elements of the show (or movie or novels, as I enjoyed the novel series based on the movie and look forward to working bit in) then having it will continue to pay off. Either way, be sure to drop by our boards over on the website, as there's a lot of fans to talk to and help with setting things up availible :).

The SG-1 book is full of info on the universe of SG-1, details of the epsiodes along with the aliens, technology, departments, gear packages and so forth... to be honest I have a whole slew of Spycraft material too but I'm positive i'd have struggled to provide specifics without this SG-1 book.

But specific use aside the SG-1 book is in my opinion one of the best values for money i've seen in a long while! my book cost me £30 ($50) and the thing is HUGE and full of loveliness.

Note of warning: AEG messed the ISBN number up on this product, making it currently non-existent in many data bases, including Amazon and Walmart and Barnes & Noble. I emailed AEG about it, with no response.

What a terrible marketing blunder.
