There's a specific reference regarding the gods and gender, basically a "while the gods may be represented by their followers as one gender, they're gods and are above needing such points of reference for themselves and can appear and be however they want..." I picked up the books (I'm a sucker for world books; always have been, probably always will be.) I think think this is a quality one. One of the best setting guides yet for 5E, and does a good job of making it interesting for an old Realms Hack like me but accessible to new players. There's some nice nods to various entry points or lore that should be neat for people who know it and not a distraction or confusing for those who don't, which is the right level of fan service. (I loved seeing quotes from Alias. For me that was a delight. Will it matter to who is giving those quotes for people who don't know her? Nope, she could be just another Realms adventurer, really. But it's a nice touch, just like the art featuring the D&D cartoon characters. Fun for people that like that stuff, but not too heavy-handed for those who dislike or don't care) Thought they did a nice job on the level-by-level adventure hooks. Useful without being too much. The really did a nice job covering the scope of the Realms and personally I think the production values (including the art) is very very high.
