Inspiration

Where do you get your inspiratoin from. What books, movies, or plays sparked your mind and gave you your ideas?

I got a lot of inspiration from from Lord of the Rings, Riddlemasters Game, and Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever series, as well as others.

Well good question hmmm...

Movies: Hudson Hawk, Lord of the Rings, Reign of Fire, Excaliber, 13th Warrior, Evil Dead/Army of Darkness, Indiana Jones, Labarynth (however it is spelled), Cube, Monsters & Mazes, Beast Master, Star Wars

Books: Shanara Series, Wheel of Time, R.A. Salavatore's, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

TV: Lost, Angel, Buffy, Charmed, A-Team, MacGyver, Knight Rider, AD&D The Animated Series, Sliders, and many others, pretty much what ever I'm watching at the time

Games: Everquest, Magic the Gathering, Prince of Persia, God of War, Final Fantasy, EarthDawn, Any published RPG, City of Heroes, SW:KOTOR

I think Stephen R. Donaldson's The Chronicles of Thomas Covenent the Unbeliever was also one of my greatest inspirations. I read it in high school (waaaay back) and have re-read it probably 6 times since.

Others: Indiana Jones movies, Casablance, Captain Blood, the original Flash Gorden serials, The Great Train Robbery. (Hey, I'm old, OK?) :heh:

Just because you've seen those movies doesn't make you seem old. Hell, I think most of the new stuff that comes out is crap, so I prefer the old movies.

And yeah, the Covenant books are great.

Yeah, OK, but I saw most of them in theaters. At least it wasn't the original runs for the old ones, but Saturday morning re-plays for a dollar when I was a kid. :D

Lately, the original Robert E. Howard Conan stories. Very cool stuff. Also, B5 was a big inspiration for my attempts at plot weaving and episodic play. Stargate SG-1 is also interesting there, in stretching minor plot points from early episodes into major events in later ones.

In kind of a twist, another gaming system (Iron Heroes) has been really inspiring - but that has been making me want to write my own system, not inspire my game.

I get inspiration from some of the coolest persons of the past. I had a great storyline once that involved a Mark Anthony type bad guy. So much fun.

Oh and yeah, im still alive... just grounded.
