D&D 5E Inspirations and tags

Inspiration seems to be something that people don't mind, but everybody forgets it.

So I came up with an idea.

When you do your module/adventure, put in points that have tags, not unlike the game Fallout.

These are places in the story where you either expend inspiration for some tertiary effect (not quite sure of the overall power level on this so open to suggestions) or a place to renew your inspiration.

Would this work?

k

you get to a part of the story where you get an option to pick up the pie.

you pick up the pie.

you get the tag "pie taker and it replenishes your inspiration.

you then give that pie to that hungry urchin and get the tag "pie giver" which replenishes your inspiration.

mostly using them as reminders in the adventure design, but I could also see the price for a clue, specific bonus would be the cost of your inspiration.

So, it is sort of like using milestones for XP, but instead you award Inspiration?

For example, if the adventure has three milestones:

1. Find the cave
2. Rescue the merchant
3. Return to the town with merchant alive.

Now, is your idea that at those points you can use your inspiration and something cool happens or if you are out of inspiration, you can earn a point then?

exactly

Make inspiration as essentially milestones so we remember to use the darn thing. :)
Ok, that was pretty much what I thought you were going for. Thanks for the clarification.

We currently grant XP awards for such things when the PCs meet milestones during an adventure, but adding inspiration could work.

I like the idea from the other thread that inspiration could grant additional actions during a turn instead of simply allowing someone to reroll.

There are times when the character can move 60 feet for instance, but need an extra 20 or something to reach their foe and stop them from killing their friend. Using inspiration to accomplish something cool and heroic is better IMO than just to save your own butt by rerolling a saving throw, etc.
