Here I thought a lot of this was hashed out between other players, annnnnd hindsight tells me a lot of this probably should have been done here instead. Mea Culpa, friends. From what I know, here is the skinny. - Thorir is a Sea King and also a son of Volund. The brother of Einar and half-brother of Eben, he has been raiding and adventuring to gain wealth and fame outside of Grandael because Einar is a bastard and has been consolidating power and basically preparing to eliminate any threats to his rule. I believe at some point Thorir wants to challenge Einar for rightful rule of Grandael but isn't strong or famous enough to do so now ..? Fenris, correct me if I'm wrong there. - Eben is an actual bastard son of Volund, and Einar tried to have him killed when he went to go see dear old dad to try and become Legitimized. This lead to Thorir saving Eben, meeting his half-brother, and the two of them agreeing to work together to be a thorn in the side of Einar while also becoming legendary warriors and vikingr. Eben and Astrid used to have a relationship before he finally left the MacTier lands to fully join his half-brother, but was frightened away by a dark and mysterious Cult who told him that Alec would have him executed for seeing his daughter. - Astrid was the victim of this cult, leading to her child (by Eben) to be taken by a strange, otherworldly creature that helped protect her. Her and her father have taken to trying to uncover this cult, find out its motives, and destroy it. She has agreed to marry Einar in the years since Eben left her, with both MacTiers assuming he would be a powerful ally in their hunt and also a means to strengthen their hold in The North. - Alec is also hunting the Cult, knows that Astrid and Eben were involved with each other, and I would assume also thinks that Einar would make a powerful ally (despite the fact that Einar is Pantheonist and Alec is Demiurgist). I would also imagine that due to his own hesitancy in seeking a new wife since the passing of his, he ... may be conflicted over Astrid's wedding, knowing how long his daughter has put this off? I'm not entirely sure. For Eben and Thorir, their common enemy is certainly Einar whom they know as a cruel, vicious, dangerously ambitious man. However, Einar appears to kind of be a good thing to House MacTier? Even though I'm pretty sure (OOC knowledge) he is not a good thing for them at all. Alec and Astrid certainly know The Cult is their enemy and have been trying to hunt down and destroy these folks, and while Eben has encountered them, he didn't actually know it was them (the cultist was in the guise of a Demiurgist Priest at the time). I ... don't believe Thorir has had an encounter with the Cult either. Aaaaaand AB basically posted all of this before I finished and said what I was getting to, lol. When Eben realizes it's the MacTiers and specifically that it is Astrid, he'd probably try to halt the violence by any means. I would think for the sake of roleplay and the story, while it will definitely be fun to portray the initial raid, the clash of shields, the call of spell ... we kinda sorta do need to not kill each other and work together. The only thing I can think of is that if Thorir sees that Eben knows these people personally, and both of them know about Einar, they may try to convince the MacTiers that Einar is bad news and that their best interests may be in supporting a certain Sea King to replace him >.> Or something like that.
