[QUOTE="tglassy, post: 6996045, member: 6855204"] Yes, yes, I understand that, but based on that, the main plot of the game seems to be "Let's make sure Astrid marries the guy she wants to marry." That's fine, and can work if the other guy puts up a bigger fight, but in all seriousness, there's no indication so far that Einar is anything but a noble person. It seems weak to just say "Oh shucks, I'd rather marry this guy, I guess I'll break my engagement and go back on my word." Then the story becomes about someone who decided they didn't like a promise they made and everyone is trying to help her get out of the consequences of her actions. I don't feel that's something Alec would want. He wanted her to follow her heart, but I don't see him teaching her that her heart can just override her word simply because she wants it to. No, that is a subplot. That is something the characters fight about and discuss while pursuing the actual plot. There needs to be a goal the characters want that they can only get if they help each other, and relationships can be explored as they try to achieve their goals. That, of course, is the DM's preview. I can tell you right now that Alec will come in with a mind to take his daughter to Einar. When he finds out about the other guy, he will not be happy. So, I suppose the DM is going to need to bring up something that'll make him change his mind. I've got some ideas (like the baby that was taken) but that starts to fall in to the DM's realm, and actually, I'd like to see how it plays out.
