Interesting core-rules character builds

What are some unusual character builds you can create using only the core rules (and perhaps the SRD material - XPH and such)? They don't have to be totally zany, just something more interesting than the assumed archetypes.

For instance, I just read about a 5th level druid flying around on a dire bat animal companion, hurling fire from produce flame at enemies on the ground.

What about a half-orc druid/fighter in wild dragonhide spiked full plate, who turns into bears and grapples people?

A halfling grenadier with a handy haversack full of grenade-like weapons?

An evil half-red dragon dryad sorceress obsessed with fire spells?

I'm thinking of making a warpony riding gnome who deals a great deal of damage based on Power Attack, Spirited Charge and a Lance.

I've always wanted to try an elven fighter rogue who dual wields flaming burst light picks and has weapon finesse and improved critical.

For a while I've wanted to make a wuxia-flavoured psychic warrior using feats like Up the Walls and Psionic Leap; or possibly an Elan monk would work better(psionic feats would still be available).

I played a half orc barbarian-1/cleric-x of Pelor. Instead of Pelor's chose weapon of a mace, my guy used a warhammer and called it a very big mace when questioned by his superiors.

He put the "fun" back into fundamentalism.

You know a warhammer is smaller than a heavy mace, right? 5 pounds versus 8 according to the PHB.

One of my favorite characters of al time was a gnome druid/fighter who ran aroudn the battlefield on a wolverine.

trust me you do NOT want to be Trampled by a Wolverine

My very first 3rd edition character was one that immediately sprang to mind when I saw there were no multiclassing restrictions: ranger/rogue. I imagined him as a bounty hunter (and he turned out to be a damned good one).

Another fun character was a multiclassed sorcerer/illusionist. No one could tell if his spells were just tricks or the real deal. :)
