It went great. One of my player stole their kid's night-lite after the session. The best of the bunch was the home-brewed monster that started off with goblin stats. {Phase 1} "This creature appear to be small human child until she steps into the light (> dim light). Any parts exposed to light reveal transparent flesh with withering green and brown tendrils just beneath the surface. As they approach, the air fills warm, comforting scents of home (DC 10 Will vs nostalgia)." Gave these guys a modified Mind Shackles from Chained Cambion. As a standard action; several tendrils burst from the creatures chest, latching onto an adjacent victim, effectively shackling the two together. While shackled, the victim take 5 profane damage at the start of its turns and every time it is not adjacent to this creature. The creature gains temp HP equal to the damage dealt by this power (no cap). DC 13 Ref to negate the shackling; DC 15 Fort to end the effect. {Phase 2 occurs whenever base form reaches zero HP} "As the final blow is dealt, this creature does not collapse as mortal flesh and bone should. Instead, it's flesh bursts open like a rotten melon, spilling forth three piles of slick green and brown tendrils, a black hooked beak and bloodshot eyes. The sweet scent that once filled the air turns rancid." This form got a modified Whisper Game from Autumn Nymph. As a free action when entering this form, target the nearest enemy within 50ft not already under the effects of Whisper Game. Until the end of the encounter or until this creature drops to zero HP, the affected creature takes 5 ongoing profane damage at the start of it's turn. Should the affected creature save against the Whisper Game, it's nearest ally within 50ft is now affected instead. If this ally is already affected by another's Whisper Game the damage stacks and increase the DC by 2 for each stack. When this creature drops to zero HP, the creature currently affected by Whisper Game ends all stacks of the effect on itself and takes double the total as profane damage. If an affected creature dies from the ongoing damage, each other ally within 15ft currently affected gains a stack of Whisper Game. No save to stop gaining Whisper Game, and DC 15(base) Will to end the effect on oneself. Threw 5 of these monstrosities, 10 Commoner Zombies and 2 Ghasts at the party of 4 plus 2 dozen concerned citizens to set the mood for the game. While the 2nd phase form followed the minion hp rules for PCs, they where quick, diminutive and prone to hide under/inside those already dead.
