Introduction

Sir Yvain

First Post
Hello I am new here. I decided to introduce myself here since there is no introduction sub-forum and this is the section I will likely frequent most often.

Hello everyone, I just got into D and D this year and I already love the game more than I probably should. :hmm:

Welcome to ENWorld, and welcome to D&D!
Don't be bashful with ideas or questions. There are lots of folks here willing to answer questions and fight over the answers. ;)

welcome to the lifestyle of Interactive Entertainment where you USE your mind instead of being voyeuring the adventures of book/movie/tv characters - you wont regret it.

Lurk around, ask questions, post opinions and most have fun ... because when its all said and done, its YOUR world operating according to YOUR rules so modify as needed to maximize your enjoyment.

You can't not love this hobby. Either you kinda like it, or you're borderline obsessed. ;)

If you're just getting started, it may be worth it to check out a relatively famous blogger and get a feel for the sort of devotion, passion, and history of our favorite game.

Grognardia, located at GROGNARDIA is the site of J. Maliszewski, a very respected blogger who really knows his game. It's really worth a read.

Howdy.

Welcome to the house rules forum.

If you only have a year's experience under your belt, I recommend not introducing any house rules for a while and sticking as close to RAW as possible (core rules, little 3rd party material) for any rules that impact your players. Often people who create house rules have good intentions, but don't clearly understand what the impact of a particular rules change will be.

If you must use house rules, use mine. ;)

If you have any questions, just ask. Tinkering with the rules is one of the joys of being a game master, but its also challenging and easy to get wrong. The few remaining regulars on the legacy house rules boards will be quick, maybe too quick, to share opinions but despite our bark we really do mean well (most of the time).

A DM without house rules, is like. . . well, a thing that doesn't exist, in my experience. :D

No, really.

Anyway, welcome! It's a great hobby to be into. And It'll be good to see at least one more "house ruler" around here. Not that we're in short supply, mind, but the more the merrier. :)
