Invisibility and Magic Jar

If an invisible character casts Magic Jar, what happens?

Does the invisibility go away since he's "dead"? Since casting that spell isn't an "attack" (you just shunt your spirit into the magic jar), you shouldn't become visible. But how about when you try and take over someone?

Thanks!

Magic Jar

While in the magic jar, the character can sense and attack any life force within 10 feet per caster level (on the same plane).

Invisibility
The spell ends if the subject attacks any creature. For purposes of this spell, an "attack" includes any spell targeting a foe or whose area or effect includes a foe. (Exactly who is a foe depends on the invisible character’s perceptions.)

Casting the spell would not end the invisibility, but an attempt to possess surely would.

(Hey, was that Harm post just so you could "decoy" the Last Post listing in your profile? ;) )

Maybe, Tom, maybe ... but you're definitely not helping your case to get back into S.H.I.N.Y. with comments like that.

But as for invisibility... if you cast Magic Jar and don't become visibile, why would your "body" become visibile once you attack? After all, you're no longer in that body, right?

Because you're trying to apply logic to find a loophole. Just because the soul isn't in the body doesn't mean that the body stops being the "character."

Look at those quotes again. It's pretty cut-and-dried.

FAQ says personal range spell go with you when you Magic Jar, Invisibility when cast on your self has a range of personal. The minute you leave your body your body becomes visible again. Since the invisiblity remains with the "soul" as it where, it ends them minute you try to possess someone, thus when you take over you will be visible in your new body, the only acception to this is if someone where to willing fail the saving through, then I don't believe it would count as an attack (as they would no longer fall under the descriptor of foe).
