Invisibility and objects

I was wonder how people handle casting of invisibility on objects that are attached to another object.

Example:

Party is moving down the hallway and come to a door. The wizard casts invisibility on the door. What happens?

Does the door count as part of a larger object or just a door by itself? I would assume after reading the rules on hardness and structures from Strongholds. Every section of wall (5x5) counts seperately for purposes of breaking it down and attacking.
